It was hard to get a good room temperature. And I have a little problem with that you have to take an restaurant to the lobby floor and then another elevator to your room...
But that aside...
What made my evenings were Remi at Fuell. The restaurant / bar at lobby level. He really knows his craft, he is open to get off the menu and create drinks to the customers liking. He made 4 drinks for me in 2 days and he is 4 for 4! It was a great experience for me.
I enjoy a good drink, but I love a good balanced cocktail, and he was superb! 👌
Thanks Remi for taking pride in your craft!
The food was a good surprise as well, good size portions.
Overall the pricing is a bit steep, but the experience was awesome!

I would recommend staying at any of the other luxury hotels in Detroit. The rooms here are small, the bathroom in the room is so small the door almost hits the toilet. The suits are more spacious but still have the same tiny bathroom. Great dining options in the building. Either the hotel restaurants or the ones attached are amazing choices to dine at.
The Atheneum, MGM Grand, The Westin Book Cadillac, The Siren, or Shinola would all be better choices.

The bed sheets were wrinkly and not made properly which makes me think they weren't changed or a guest came in, laid on the bed, and then switched rooms. There was no bath towels in the room and the shower was old and stained. It kinda smelled like maybe a former smoking room. Overall, the rooms definitely need an update.
The ladies at the front desk were super friendly and the view of the river/Canada from the room was nice.
The hotel is about a 25 min walk from the arenas which was fine for us. It also sits right on the Riverwalk so that was convenient.

I just stayed here and it was a poor experience. While reviewing my confirmation before arriving I realized I used the wrong CC to reserve. Upon arrival I asked to credit the card and charge another. The person at the desk said they would. After my stay I reviewed the bill and found they did not. I reached out to the accounting dept at the hotel by phone before they responded by email to say they would not as I had chosen prepay non refundable when booking the room.
Further, while there, I was trying to get to the transit station attached to the hotel and found the escalators turned off. My 75 year old uncle had to climb a non running escalator. He is getting a knee replacement soon and is mobility challenged. No one seemed to care.
The in building restaurants are mediocre at best, staff is slow and disinterested in helping.
This hotel is not even as nice as the average Courtyard.
I’m a Bonvoy member and always stay at Marriott properties when traveling. I will never stay here again. The hotel is in a perfect spot for my trip but staying here was truly disappointing on many levels.

The valet was incredibly helpful and nice. My daughter left her airpods on the valet cart and Joyce called me (repeatedly!) to let me know they found them. I appreciate the care and persistance to ensure we got them back! The bellman who helped us with our luggage was very friendly and helped us find our way around the hotel.
The on-site restaurant, Fuel was a little expensive for the quality of food, but otherwise, it was clean and the staff was friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
