There is not enough that I can say about this hotel. My wife and I stay here every time we are in Detroit, and we have never been disappointed. The staff is amazingly friendly and accommodating to anything within reason. They allowed us a River View room which is breathtaking.
I would especially like to give a "Thank You" to one particular staff member, Jihad Slim, for his exceptional service that he extended to my wife and I. The only negative about this hotel are the bathrooms are very small. Other than that, this place is 100% Marriott quality that they are known and loyal for.

1st, let me speak on Russell. We got in pretty late, and he checked us in. He was professional and friendly. He answered several questions we had and was extremely helpful with whatever we needed.
The room was nice with a spectacular view of the river. A room with a view automatically ups the magnitude and opulence of it.
The bar in the lobby was cool. Drink prices are comparable to any bar. The little store in the lobby is overpriced but not unexpected. Every service interaction I had was amazing, beginning with Russell.

Amazing facility! Hotel is very comfortable. The conference center is huge, and beautiful.
Only negatives: navigating around inside this place is challenging. It's an absolutely gorgeous maze. Second negative is the location. Uber drivers and conference and hotel staff all told us not to go outside unless in a group. However, the People Mover sky rail stops at the center, and can safety take you most anywhere downtown. And it's free!

Clean room. Very serviceable. I'd give 4.5 if they let you on this app. View of the river is great, location even better. I saw so much of the city without needing a car. How's that for irony? Leave the hotel for breakfast/brunch. There are plenty of places that are a reasonable walk or a quick ride on the people mover.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Not enough towels, sheets, or blankets, pillows crams 4 people to a room with one bed. Brings in cot with no sheets, blankets, pillows and is told to bad. Cot is disgusting filthy. Only 2 towels and one wash cloth for 4 people told not enough towels sorry. The treatment of the staff to the guests is rude. Would never recommend staying here. Shame on the Marriott name for allowing such horrible treatment and disgusting up keep of bedding, towels and room cleaning. Would not ever recommend companies having any functions at this hotel. Not worth the money. quality is poor, lacking in customer service experience definitely no hospitality experience. It's more like a low end motel.
