Pizzapapalis – This location is perfect if you’re visiting the Riverwalk. I was so happy to discover this branch because I had been craving their famous deep pan pizza for so long.
The deep pan is honestly my favourite pizza. It arrives thick, hot, cheesy, and packed with flavour. The crust is soft inside with a golden, slightly crispy edge, and you can really taste the difference compared to a regular pizza. It’s the kind of pizza that feels comforting and filling after a long day exploring the city.
The service was great, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. I would definitely suggest calling in advance if you do not want to wait around 45 minutes for the pizza to be served. A proper deep pan takes time to bake, and you can tell it’s made fresh. From previous experience, I ordered ahead before arriving and it was ready when I got there, which made the experience even better.
The seating is comfortable, not grand or fancy, but cozy enough to sit back, relax, and enjoy a really satisfying meal.

I was born in the south side of Chicago and I should say this pizza is an absolute disgrace to Chicago Pizza. My work bought us this pizza in hopes of boosting morale.... Not quite sure what the expectation in boosting morale was with this pizza. Seeing that it's awful. It just made me want to work less. I actually ended up going home early because the baby was kicking if you know what I mean, my stomach wasn't exactly feeling too hot. I don't know if anyone's ever been to a CiCi's Pizza buffet but this crust is about on par with how bad that is. The cheese bread was about as dry as an 80-year-olds... The garlic bread was well kind of like rubber from a shoe. I don't know if it was just stale or what. Wouldn't recommend. My co worker found a piece of plastic in a slice of his deep dish. Plenty of other better pizza options. Literally pick anything else. I'm writing this review the next day and I should say my stomach has not been this tore up since I was a drinker which has been 4 years.

Taste like they change the sauce, toppings were way few in my pizza I was disappointed. I remembered in the beginning PizzaPapalis was fire now its an ember 🤨 so disappointed 😞. I think new owners. I will probably give it another try..
that's a might give it another try. The lady the young sister who took are order was great but that pizza could've been way better.

Pizza Papalis is a tremendous value, which is something I couldn't have guessed just looking at their menu online.
This has to do with how they do their sizing.
Like I eat a lot. And the "small" Deep Dish Seafood could feed about 3 of me. Way, way bigger than any other "small" pizza that I've seen in my life.
The "regular" antipasto salad easily fed my family of 3 with leftovers. I can't even imagine how big the "family" size portion is.
And this brings me to their pizza. Both their Deep Dish and Detroit style are tremendous.
Their Detroit style is better than modern Buddy's. They have a very flavorful sauce and I like how their cheese isn't spongy. It's flavorful and melted on top of the pizza. And 8 pieces easily feeds a family of 3. Huge slices.
I love the deep dish pizza, and it's an item that you can only get from Papalis if you're in Michigan.
The Seafood special pizza just flat out works. I've never had it anywhere else, but the cheese and sauce mixed with the crab and shrimp creates a unique flavor you can't find at any other pizza spot. It's been a favorite of mine and my family's for about 2 decades now. Awesome!
Great people work here and every request was met with help and a smile. They were incredibly kind to everyone who walked through the door. Just be aware Deep Dish Pizza takes a while to cook
The value and flavor of Papalis is great. Highly recommend!
